Kelsey Minato (Army) Earns MBWA Women's Player of the Week
Patriot League Double Figures Leader Takes Week 2 Honors

NEW YORK (Dec. 16, 2014) --- Kelsey Minato of Army, a 5-8 junior guard from Huntington Beach, Calif., has been named women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn. The award, for games played Dec. 8-14, is unique in that it encompasses players from 73 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.
Minato scored a season-high 32 points on 13-of-24 shooting along with five assists in a 61-55 comeback victory over St. Francis Brooklyn. She netted 23 points in the second half, including Army’s last seven of the game, to lead the Black Knights (7-2) rally after trailing by 14 in the second half. The 32-point performance marked Minato's sixth career 30-point game.
Next, Minato totaled 17 points and added three steals in Army’s 74-60 victory over Central Connecticut State. With that output, she reached double figures for a Patriot League-leading 58th straight game.
