St. John's Harrison Named MBWA Men's Player of the Week

Reigning Haggerty Award winner gets 1st weekly honor of 2014-15 season

NEW YORK (Dec. 9, 2014) --- D’Angelo Harrison of St. John’s, a 6-4 senior guard from Missouri City, Texas, has been named men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn. The award, for games played Dec. 1-7, is unique in that it encompasses players from 73 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.

Harrison, who also was named Big East Player of the Week, averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and shot 48.0% (12-25) from the field to lead the Red Storm (6-1), now ranked No. 24 by the Associated Press, to a 69-57 victory at Syracuse and a 70-57 homecourt triumph over Niagara.


Harrison scored a game-high 24 points in St. John’s first victory over the Orange at the Carrier Dome in 15 years. He scored 16 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in the win over Niagara.

Harrison has scored double-figures in each of the Red Storm’s seven games this season and is second in the Big East with 18.4 ppg. He has moved into eighth place on the school’s career scoring list (1,730 points).
