NEW YORK (April 14, 2014) – Melissa Tobie of Montclair State has been named the All Met Division III women’s college basketball Player of the Year by the Met Basketball Writers Association. Marc Mitchell of FDU Florham was named Coach of the Year.

The All Met teams will be honored April 22 at the 81st NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.
Tobie, a 6-1 junior forward from Elizabeth, NJ, led the Red Hawks to the NCAA Elite Eight with 18.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 50.4% FG, 78.8% FT, 113 assists, 77 blocks and 73 steals. Named the NJAC Player of the Year and a WBCA All-American, she scored 579 points, most in a season at Montclair State since 1982-83 and has 1,506 career points.
In his fifth season at the helm, Mitchell guided the Devils to a perfect 33-0 record en route to a second consecutive Freedom Conference crown and the NCAA Women’s Division III national championship. Florham won 30 of 33 games by double digits and finished 10th nationally in scoring offense (79.4), third in scoring margin (+26.0), third in turnover margin (+10.76) and 11th in rebounding margin (+10.4). Mitchell also was named WBCA national coach of the year.
