NEW YORK (Dec. 15, 2015) --- Kelsey Minato of Army and Jacqueline Kennedy of Baruch have been named Women’s Division I and Divisions II-III Players of the Week, respectively, by the Met Basketball Writers Assn.

The designations, for games played Dec. 7-13, are unique in that they encompass players from 74 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.

A 5-8 senior guard from Huntington Beach, CA, Minato --- who also was named Patriot League player of the week --- averaged 26 points and shot better than 50% from 3-point range to help Army (8-1) to a pair of road wins.

Minato hit an Academy-record-tying eight three-pointers in a 74-35 win over St. Francis Brooklyn en route to a season-high 30 points. She shot 8-of-13 from deep and 11-of-18 overall versus the Terriers.

She followed that performance with 22 points at NJIT, making 5-of-10 shots from 3-point range and 7-of-13 overall. Minato also added a career-high-tying four steals and became the first player in team history to reach the 2,000-point threshold. She currently has 2,019 points and is the fourth player in Army history, man or woman, to score 2,000 points in a career.

A 6-0 junior center from Brooklyn, NY, Kennedy established back-to-back career highs in a 1-1 week for the Bearcats (3-3) as she averaged 31 points, 17.5 rebounds and five blocks per game.

She began with a career-high 28 points, while adding 14 rebounds and five blocks in an 82-54 home loss to Staten Island. She followed with two more career bests, registering 34 points and 21 rebounds while adding another five blocked shots in a 71-49 home win over York.
