NEW YORK (April 5, 2016) -
Kaitlyn Astel of Stevens Institute has been named the All-Met Division III women's college basketball Player of the Year by the Met Basketball Writers Association.

Karin Harvey of Montclair State were selected as co-Coaches of the Year.

The All-Met First and Second Team players and coaches will be honored April 12 at the 83rd NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.
A 5-foot-11 senior guard from Staten Island, NY, Astel led the Ducks (23-7) to the Empire 8 title and to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. Individually, she was named conference player of the year for the second straight season. Also an All-Met First Team selection in 2015, Astel scored in double digits in 25 games this season and surpassed 1,000 points for her college career. She averaged 15.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in 2015-16, along with 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals, and hit 44.9% of her shots from 3-point range.
Harvey
As the Empire 8 coach of the year, Haughey guided the Ducks to 23 victories, second-most in program history, along with the team's first conference championship since 2010-11 and its first appearance ever in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet Sixteen round. She has coached the E-8 player of the year (Astel) for the past two seasons.
Harvey was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference coach of the year for the second consecutive season and All-Met Coach of the Year for the third time in four years. She guided the Red Hawks (22-7) to their fourth straight NJAC regular season and tournament titles, and into the second round of the NCAA playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. Her career record stands at 209-77 in 10 seasons as a head coach, including the last nine years at Montclair State where she is 196-63 and the school's all-time winningest coach.
