Bonacum, Schettino Top All-Met Men’s Div. III Teams
McBreen Named Coach of the Year
 
NEW YORK (April 19, 2017) – Thomas Bonacum of Ramapo and Frank Schettino of Staten Island have been named All-Met Men’s Division III college basketball Co-Players of the Year by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
 
Chuck McBreen of Ramapo was selected Coach of the Year for a fourth time.

The All-Met First and Second Team players and coaches was honored Wednesday, April 26, at the 84th NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.
 
A 6-6 junior forward from Fanwood, NJ, Bonacum --- who also was named NJAC player of the year and an NABC Division III All-America First Teamer --- led the Roadrunners (26-3) and was third in his conference with 17.1 ppg while adding 6.5 rpg, 94 assists, 41 steals and 3.4 assists per game. He shot 50.8% from the field and now has 1,136 career points to date.
 
A 5-11 senior guard from Staten Island, NY, Schettino --- who also was named the CUNYAC player of the year --- led the Dolphins (21-7) to their conference post-season title and a berth in the NCAA tournament. He was tops on CSI and second in CUNY with 18.0 ppg and ninth in the conference with 7.2 rpg. He led the nation and set a program single-season record with 258 assists, was No. 1 in the NCAA with five triple-doubles and ninth nationally with 73 steals, breaking school records for career assists, career steals, points in a game (43) and assists in a game (17). Schettino finished seventh on the all-time scoring list at Staten Island with 1,612 points.
 
In his 18th season at the helm, McBreen --- who also was named NJAC and NABC Division III Atlantic Region coach of the year --- guided the Roadrunners (26-3) to both the New Jersey Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles, and into the second round of the NCAA tournament. Ramapo’s season included a 14-game winning streak and 14-1 homecourt record. The NCAA berth was the school’s sixth under McBreen and seventh overall. He was previously named MBWA Coach of the Year in 2003, 2005 and 2011.
