Guirantes, Kebbe, Knollmeyer Nab Women’s Weekly Awards
 
NEW YORK (Dec. 18, 2018) --- Arella Guirantes of Rutgers and Alisha Kebbe of St. John’s, as co-winners in Division I, and Meg Knollmeyer of NYIT in Divisions II-III have been named Women’s Players of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn.
 
The designations, for games played Dec. 10-16, are unique in that they encompass players from 73 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.
 
A 5-11 sophomore guard from Bellport, NY, Guirantes served up an all-around 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and a career-high five steals in leading the Scarlet Knights (7-3) to a 57-43 non-conference victory over LSU in their only game of the week. She scored half her points in the second quarter when Rutgers overcame an eight-point deficit en route to maintaining an unblemished record (5-0) at home this season.
 
A 5-10 junior guard from Philadelphia, Kebbe posted 19 points and nine rebounds in her hometown as the Red Storm (7-3) took to the road to defeat LaSalle 83-57 in their only game of the week. Kebbe notched a career-high with four steals and added a pair of blocks while shooting 50% (6-of-12) from the floor.
 
A 6-1 sophomore forward from Hampton, NH, Knollmeyer averaged 19.7 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 61.0% (25-of-41) from the field as the Bears (10-2) captured two of three contests last week.
 
Knollmeyer began the week with 14 points and seven rebounds in a 68-60 win at Southern Connecticut, then erupted for 26 points along with eight rebounds at home in a 60-40 triumph over Roberts Wesleyan. She closed the week by producing 19 points and 12 rebounds at home for her sixth double-double of the season in an 84-46 victory over Daemen.
