NEW YORK (April 17, 2018) –
Chimaechi Ekekeugbor of Baruch and
Sam Toney of NJCU have been named All-Met Men’s Division III college basketball Co-Players of the Year by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
Chuck McBreen of Ramapo was selected Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season and a fifth time overall.

The All-Met First and Second Team players and coaches will be honored Wednesday, April 25, at the
85th NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.
A 6-5 senior forward from Matawan, NJ, Ekekeugbor --- who also was named CUNYAC player of the year and to the NABC Division III All-America second team --- led the Bearcats (16-11) with an average of 18.6 points (3rd CUNY) and 10.1 rebounds (2nd CUNY, 31st in nation) while shooting 52.4% from the field. He finished his career with an even 2,000 points, No. 1 all-time at Baruch and No. 2 on the CUNY conference scoring list.
A 6-4 sophomore guard from Plainfield, NJ, Toney --- who also was named New Jersey Athletic Conference player of the year and to the NABC Division III All-America third team --- led the Gothic Knights (19-8) with 20.6 ppg and 9.7 RPG (46th in nation) while shooting 47.5% from the field and 82.1% at the free throw line. He produced five efforts of 30+ points this season, including a career-high 42 points at Ramapo on Jan. 13; a school record for a road game and the fourth most ever scored by any NJCU player.
In his 20th season at Ramapo, McBreen guided the Roadrunners (25-7) to back-to-back NJAC regular season and tournament titles, a second straight NCAA Tournament berth and eighth NCAA appearance overall. The team won four games in the NCAAs before bowing out in the Division III national semifinals, McBreen’s first trip to the Final Four. A native of North Bergen, NJ, and a Towson State grade, McBreen --- who previously was named MBWA Coach of the Year in 2003, 2005, 2011 and 2017) --- has a career coaching record of 368-179 (.672 win pct).
