STAC's Erickson, Lusk Earn Div. II Player, Coach of the Year Honors
 
NEW YORK (April 19, 2018) – Jenna Erickson of St. Thomas Aquinas has been named the All-Met Division II women’s basketball Player of the Year by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
 
Kim Lusk of STAC was selected Coach of the Year for a second time, having been previously honored in 2011.
 
The rest of the All Met First Team: Kristen Drogsler, Caldwell; Maia Hood and Nina Vukosavljevic, NYIT; Sasha Patterson, LIU Post; Zhane Robinson, Bloomfield.
 
The Second Team: Beth Bonin, Queens; Adiya Henderson, St. Thomas Aquinas; Simone Hobdy, Adelphi; Mikaiya Moore, LIU Post; Sharell Sanders, Caldwell.
 
The All-Met First and Second Team players and coaches will be honored April 25 at the 85th NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.
 
A 5-4 senior guard from Melrose, NY, Erickson --- who also was selected East Coast Conference player of the year and a WBCA Division II All-American --- led the Spartans (27-5) by averaging 16.9 points (No. 2 ECC), 4.8 assists and 1.8 steals, along with a single-season career best 92 3-point goals. She shot 47.0% from the floor (No. 5 ECC), 44.2% from beyond the arc (No. 1 ECC) and 83.2% at the free throw line (No. 4 ECC). Erickson played in all 122 STAC games during a four-year career, starting in 120, and finished with 1,826 points. She is No. 1 on the program’s all-time list with 331 3-pointers.

In her 10th season coaching at the school, Lusk guided the Spartans (27-5) to their first-ever ECC Tournament championship and the program’s first NCAA berth since 2003. The 27 wins, which included a first-round NCAA Tournament victory, represent the most in a season at STAC during its NCAA Division II era. A resident of West Nyack, NY, with degrees from Southern Connecticut State and New Haven, Lusk’s coaching record at STAC is 164-126 (.566 win pct).
