Adams, Edringer Top Women’s Players in Div. II
Traversi Named Coach of the Year

NEW YORK (April 15, 2020) – Ruth Adams of St. Thomas Aquinas College and Leonie Edringer of Adelphi University have been named the All-Met Division II women’s college basketball Co-Players of the Year for 2019-20 by the Met Basketball Writers Association.

Missy Traversi of Adelphi was selected Coach of the Year.





The rest of the All Met First Teamin addition to Adams and Edringer: Jackie DelliSanti, Pace; Kadijah Dickson, Molloy; Katie Murphy, Adelphi; Melissa Sadler, St. Thomas Aquinas.

The Second Team: Ketsia Athias and Meg Knollmeyer, New York Tech; Raiana Brown, Queens; Lauren Schetter, Pace; Taylor Tomlinson, Dominican.

A 5-5 senior guard from San Diego, CA, Adams – who also was named both the East Coast Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year --- led the Spartans (21-7) and was second in the conference in scoring with 14.5 ppg; second on the team with 5.9 rebounds; and led STAC with 62 steals. She shot 50.3% from the field for the season and posted three double-doubles.

A 6-1 senior forward from Trier, Germany, Edringer --- who was named to the Northeast 10 All-Conference first team --- led the Panthers (27-3) in scoring (15.1 ppg), rebounding (9.6 rpg) and blocked shots (69, tops in the NE10), while shooting a team-best 45.5% from the field along with 85.2% marksmanship at the free throw line. She recorded 20 or more points in eight contests and had 14 double-doubles.

In her fourth season as head coach, Traversi guided the Panthers (27-3) to the Northeast 10 Southwest Division regular season title, second place in the conference postseason playoffs and an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. During the past season Adelphi reeled off 16 straight wins at the start and concluded the regular campaign with 10 victories in a row. Having won the NE10 championship for an automatic berth in the NCAAs in 2017, this year’s national tournament was canceled prior to any games being contested.

A native of Attleboro, MA, who played for and graduated from the University of Maine in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in communications/p.r., Traversi earned a 2013 Masters in athletic administration at Ohio University. Her four-year career coaching record at Adelphi is 83-37 (.692 W-L pct).
