FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fordham's DeWolfe Nets 2021's First WBB Weekly Player Honor

NEW YORK (Jan. 12, 2021) --- Anna DeWolfe of Fordham has been named Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn.

The designation, for games played Jan. 4-10, is unique in that it encompass players from 72 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III. This season, however, many schools are not playing basketball or have delayed seasonal starts due to the coronavirus situation, and for this week nominations were only received from Division I programs.

A 5-8 sophomore guard from Cumberland, ME, DeWolfe picked up her sixth and seventh 20-point games this season for the Rams (6-3) during a weekend split on the road, averaging 24 points.

She poured in 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field --- including 4-of-6 from 3-point range plus 5-of-6 at the free throw line --- to go with three assists, three steals and two rebounds in a 64-58 victory at Rhode Island. She nailed four 3-pointers en route to 21 points in helping Fordham stay close in a 61-56 loss at UMass.

DeWolfe is currently 16th in the NCAA in scoring with 22.4 ppg, bolstered by 73 field goals made (31st nationally).

Players receiving MBWA Honorable Mention for the week: Lailani Correa, St. John’s; Willow Duffell, Marist; Jaylen Hines, Hofstra; Lauren Park-Lane, Seton Hall.
