Scaife, Hood Selected Women's Players of the Week
 
NEW YORK (Dec. 12, 2017) --- Tyler Scaife of Rutgers in Division I and Maia Hood of NYIT in Divisions II-III have been named Women’s Players of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn.
 
The designations, for games played Dec. 4-10, are unique in that they encompass players from 74 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.
 
A 5-9 senior guard from Little Rock, AR, Scaife averaged 23.3 points playing an average of just 24.0 minutes while shooting 54.2% (26-of-48) from the field and 92.9% (13-of-14) at the free throw line as the Scarlet Knights (10-2) won all three of their games at home last week. Overall, she has scored 20-plus points seven times this season, including each game last week.
 
Scaife, who now is fourth on the all-time school scoring list, began the week with 22 points and four rebounds, and tied a career-high with three blocks, as Rutgers defeated Virginia 52-43 for its third win over an Atlantic Coast Conference foe this season.
 
She followed by netting 23 points in a 70-45 win over in-state rival Seton Hall, then wrapped up the week leading Rutgers with 25 points on 62.5% shooting (10-of-16) in just 18 minutes as the Scarlet Knights posted a 101-35 runaway victory over another New Jersey opponent, Fairleigh Dickinson.
 
A 6-3 graduate forward from Elmsford, NY, Hood --- who also was named East Coast Conference player of the week --- averaged 24.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Bears (6-3), shooting 64.3% (18-of-28) from the field.
 
She scored a career-high 28 points in an 80-49 triumph over visiting Mercy, then notched her third double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 62-50 win at Bridgeport.
