Yeshiva's Turell Takes Men's Div. II-III Player of the Week
NEW YORK (Dec. 7, 2021) ---
Ryan Turell of Yeshiva has been named Divisions II/III Men’s Players of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designations, for games played Nov. 29-Dec. 5, are unique in that they encompass players from 69 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.
A 6-7 senior guard from Los Angeles, CA, Turell – who also was named the Skyline Conference player of the week and captured the MBWA All-Met Division III Player of the Year designation in both 2020 and 2021 --- averaged 24.5 points last week in leading the No. 1 nationally ranked and undefeated Maccabees (11-0) to an 80-66 road victory over Farmingdale State and a 105-77 win over Old Westbury, both in league play. With a 94-48 triumph over Brooklyn on Monday evening, YU’s winning streak now has reached 47 games.
Turell netted 21 points and was a perfect 9-of-9 at the foul line against Farmingdale State. He posted a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while draining 12-of-18 from the field along with four assists against Old Westbury.
