Learning Opportunities:
  • Create social media and website content plan to improve engagement between MBWA and student-athletes, staff, media, fans, and sponsors.
  • Application of sports media and communication skills and knowledge learned in the classroom for an engaged, well established regional media organization.
  • Develop critical thinking and social media planning, prepare written reports, videos and graphics for the organization’s website and social media platforms.
  • Coordinate project management skills to maintain social media websites by creating and procuring new content regularly throughout the season.

Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Digital Media Intern, your responsibilities will include the following:
  • Generate social media content and input content to MBWA social media accounts.
  • Create original and unique digital content for the MBWA website and social media platforms. 
  • Be prepared to do graphics on short notice (remotely), including during the two-month lead up to the dinner.
  • Work side-by-side with broadcast partners with set up and take down of media equipment for MBWA Haggerty Awards Dinner in April.

Requirements
Must be an undergraduate or graduate student:
  • Demonstrated ability to create original social media graphics (portfolio link).
  • Interest in college sports / sports marketing, specifically basketball.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and editing skills required.
  • Knowledge of MBWA’s existing social media sites and general knowledge of MBWA.
  • Experience with use of video editing software (Final Cut, Premiere Pro etc.) and Adobe InDesign and Photoshop (suggested).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Internship Term:  November 2026 - April 2027 (all virtual)
                            Heavier work flow from February to April should be expected.
                            Must be available in-person for MBWA Dinner on Tuesday, April 13, 2027 in Sleepy Hollow, NY

Compensation: Academic Credit (Spring 2027 semester, must show proof of registration). $500 stipend at the completion of the internship in May.
