Baruch's Gittens & St. John's Harrison Get Co-Players of the Week
Bearcats' Granville Gittens and the Red Storm's D'Angelo Harrison share MBWA Week 2 award

NEW YORK (Dec. 16, 2014) --- D’Angelo Harrison of St. John’s, a 6-4 senior guard from Missouri, Texas, and Granville Gittens of Baruch, a 6-6 senior center-forward from Brooklyn, NY, have been named men’s Co-Players of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn. The designation, for games played Dec. 8-14, is unique in that it encompasses players from 73 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.
Harrison, who also was named both Big East and MBWA Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, shot 61.5% (16-26) from the field and converted all 12 free-throw attempts over a two-game stretch for the No. 20-ranked Red Storm (8-1). He advanced to sixth place on St. John’s all-time scoring chart with 1,778 career points.
Harrison had a game-high 26 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the Red Storm’s 22-point victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday. Then on Sunday, Harrison notched his ninth double-digit scoring effort in as many games this season, scoring 22 points and shooting 8-for-12 from the field in a 21-point win over Fordham.
Gittens, who was named CUNYAC Player of the Week for the second straight week, was the top scorer for the Bearcats (6-1) in conference wins over Staten Island and York. He posted 25 points and 13 rebounds in an 81-70 victory at Staten Island, then had 23 points (7-11 FG shooting), 10 rebounds, two steals and one block in a 62-49 home triumph over York.
