Fordham's DeWolfe Wins Women's Division I Player of the Week
NEW YORK (Dec. 14, 2021) ---
Anna DeWolfe of Fordham has been named Division I Women’s Player of the Week for the second consecutive week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Dec. 6-12, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area schools across Division I.
A 5-8 junior guard from Cumberland, ME, DeWolfe averaged 25.5 points in leading the Rams (8-3) to homecourt victories over Manhattan (65-63) and Lafayette (71-36). She shot 45.6% from the floor --- including 52.5% (10-of-19) from 3-point tange --- while adding 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals.
DeWolfe netted 27 points, including a career-high six 3-pointers, and produced a team-high five assists, two rebounds and two steals across all 40 minutes of the two-point win over Manhattan in the 52nd Battle of the Bronx.
She closed out the week on Sunday in a rout of Lafayette, scoring 24 points --- her fourth straight 20+ effort --- on an efficient 10-of-16 from the floor, with four more threes, three rebounds, two assists a steal over 30 minutes.
During the week, DeWolfe became the 24th member of the Fordham women's 1,000-point club.
