Kaety L'Amoreaux of Fairfield University has been named Division I Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Dec. 1-7, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area Division I schools.
This is L'Amoreaux's first career MBWA player of the week nod.
A 5-6 junior guard from Endwell, NY, L’Amoreaux --- who was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference player of the week for a second consecutive week --- averaged 27.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.5 steals in a 1-1 non-conference week on the road for the Stags (5-3).
She shot 63% from the floor, including 53% from long-range while hitting eight total 3-pointers.
In Friday’s narrow 72-69 loss at Howard, L’Amoreaux led Fairfield with 23 points, with 19 coming in a valiant second half.
In Sunday’s 93-72 victory at Richmond, she tallied a career-high 31 points while draining five 3s and tying a personal-best with six steals.
