NEW YORK (Feb. 17, 2026) ---
Riley Weiss of Columbia University has been named Division I Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association for the second consecutive week.
The designation, for games played Feb. 9-15, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area schools in Division I.
Weiss was named Co-MBWA Player of the Week last week (Feb. 10) and she earned the honor three times last season, making this her fifth selection overall.
A 5-10 junior guard from Hewlett, NY, Weiss --- who was named the Ivy League co-player of the week --- averaged 22.0 points in a 2-0 week at home in which the Lions (17-6, 8-2) knocked off No. 24-ranked Princeton 70-56 on Friday and beat Penn 69-56 on Saturday.
For the two games, she shot 47.1% (16-of-34) from the field, 41.2% (7-of-17) from downtown and made all five of her free throws.
Weiss scored 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting with four 3-pointers against Princeton. She notched 20 of those points after intermission to lead the Lions from a six-point halftime deficit to a 14-point triumph.
Next, Weiss followed with 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting in the win over Penn.
She is currently No. 22 in Division I scoring with 19.7 points per game; is now eighth on the program’s all-time scoring roster with 1,219 points; and is the 18th player in Ivy League history to surpass 200 career 3-pointers.
