NEW YORK (Jan. 27, 2026) ---
Kaety L'Amoreaux of Fairfield University has been named Division I Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 19-25, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area schools in Division I.
L'Amoreaux has earned three MBWA Player of the Week nods this season, previously winning the award on Dec. 9 and Dec. 23.
A 5-6 junior guard from Endwell, NY, L’Amoreaux averaged 25.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals in helping the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference co-leading Stags (17-3, 11-0) remain undefeated in league play and extend their current overall winning streak to 13 with three victories last week.
Fairfield began the week at home on Monday by beating Siena 86-50, then went on the road to defeat Niagara 81-51 on Thursday and Canisius 58-42 Saturday.
L’Amoreaux shot 58.1% (25-of-43) from the field and 50% (13-of-26) from 3-point range in the three games.
She netted 26 points along with three assists and four steals in the win over Siena, shooting 7-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from downtown.
Next, she notched 26 points (9-of-14 FG, 5-of-9 from 3FG), six rebounds, seven assists and a pair of steals against Niagara.
L’Amoreaux capped her three 20+ points per game week with 25 points, four rebounds, two assists and four steals in the win over Canisius as Fairfield maintained its 11-0 first-place MAAC tie atop the standings with Quinnipiac.
L’Amoreaux leads the MAAC in scoring with 19.9 points per game, which is 19th nationally in Division I.
NOTE: In scoring a program record 40 points in Columbia’s overwhelming 89-32 defeat of visiting Dartmouth last Saturday, junior guard Riley Weiss from Hewlett, NY, canned a Lions record 15 field goals, including a record-tying nine 3-pointers. Columbia’s previous women’s basketball single game scoring mark was 39 points posted by Ellen Bossert in 1986. The Lions 32 points allowed represent a program record for the fewest points scored by a Division I opponent. The 57-point margin of victory is Columbia's largest ever against a D-I team.
Players receiving MBWA Division I Honorable Mention for the week: Brooke Moore, St. John’s; De’Naya Rippey, Saint Peter’s; Mariana Valenzuela, Seton Hall; Riley Weiss, Columbia.
