Williams (Maritime) Takes MBWA Men's Divs. II/III Player of the Week

NEW YORK (Feb. 10, 2026) --- Zion Williams of SUNY Maritime College has been named Divs. II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
 
The designation, for games played Feb. 2-8, is unique in that it encompasses players from 49 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.

This marks the first time that Williams has been designated MBWA Player of the Week.

A 6-2 sophomore guard from Indianapolis, IN, Williams --- who also was named the Skyline Conference player of the week --- extended his streak of 20-point efforts to six straight by averaging 28.0 points along with 10.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Privateers (11-10, 7-5).
 
Maritime lost at home last Wednesday to Yeshiva 94-78, then rebounded on the road Saturday to topple St. Joseph’s Brooklyn 90-73.
 
Williams matched his career-high with 29 points while adding eight rebounds and seven assists against Yeshiva.
 
Next, he had his third double-double of the season at St. Joseph's Brooklyn with 27 points and equaled his career-high with 13 boards to go with four assists in the victory.
