NEW YORK (Dec. 23, 2014) --- Darien Davis of Dowling, a 6-3 senior guard from Middle Island, NY, has been named men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn.

The designation, for games played Dec. 15-21, is unique in that it encompasses players from 73 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.

Davis, who also was named East Coast Conference Player of the Week, led the Golden Lions (5-6) to a 2-0 week at home averaging 36.5 points per game on 67.4% shooting (29-of-43) from the floor. Davis added 6.0 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals.

In an 82-64 win over NYIT, Davis finished with 36 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. He followed that with an ECC season-high 37-point performance in a 92-78 victory over Adelphi, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Davis shot 50% from 3-point range overall, hitting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc in both games.
