Kai Parris of Lehman College has been named Divisions II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 1-7, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
A 6-7 junior forward from the Bronx, NY, Parris --- who also was named CUNY Athletic Conference player of the week --- averaged 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and drilled 17 3-point goals as the Lightning (7-6) defeated CCNY 79-70 at home on Wednesday and edged Brooklyn 70-67 on the road Friday in a pair of league matchups.
Parris posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds in the win over CCNY.
He concluded the week against Brooklyn with 21 team-high points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor while adding nine rebounds and three assists.
