Peter Gorman of Ramapo College has been named Divisions II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Dec. 9-15, is unique in that it encompasses players from 49 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
This is the second MBWA weekly honor in his career for Gorman, who received a similar designation Dec. 12 last season.
A 6-0 senior guard from South Amboy, NJ, Gorman --- who also was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference player of the week --- led the Roadrunners (7-3) to an 82-76 triumph on the road Wednesday over Montclair State and to an 88-76 homecourt victory on Saturday over previously ranked The College of New Jersey.
Gorman erupted for a career-high 38 points (26 in the first half) against Montclair State, then followed with 26 points against TCNJ.
For the week, Gorman shot 62% from the field, including 45% from 3-point range, and hit 95% of his tosses at the free throw line.
The MBWA Players of the Week program will take a two-week holiday break and resume with games played from Dec. 30 through Jan. 5.
