Peter Gorman of Ramapo College has been named Divisions II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 20-26, is unique in that it encompasses players from 49 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
This is the third MBWA weekly award for Gorman and the second this season, having been similarly honored last season on Dec. 12, 2023, and earlier this season on Dec. 17, 2024..
A 6-0 senior guard from South Amboy, NJ, Gorman --- who also was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference player of the week --- averaged 23.0 points in helping the Roadrunners (14-4) secure a pair of homecourt victories last week by defeating NJCU 70-63 and Rutgers-Camden 73-68.
Gorman made 15-of-29 shots from the floor, including 8-of-13 from beyond the arc, along with canning 8-of-10 at the free throw line last week.
In avenging an earlier loss this season at NJCU, he tallied 25 points with four rebounds, two steals and one assist as he finished 9-of-14 from the field, 3-of-5 from 3-point territory and 4-of-6 at the free throw line.
Ramapo overcame a deficit as large as 10 points with 4:19 remaining to beat Camden as Gorman hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 17-3 game-closing run for the Roadrunners. He finished with 21 points, three rebounds and two assists for the game in which he was 5-of-8 shooting 3s and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line.
For the season, Gorman leads Ramapo with 351 overall points and a 19.5 points per game average, which also is the fourth-best average in the NJAC.
