Ane Valle of Felician University has been named Divs. II/III Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Dec. 15-21, is unique in that it encompasses players from 49 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
This is Valle's first career MBWA honor.
A 5-11 junior forward from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, Valle --- who also was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player of the week --- averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists as the Golden Falcons (9-2) won a pair of home games last week, edging Queens 61-57 and defeating Saint Michael’s 75-70.
Against Queens, Valle registered 20 game-high points along with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.
She was one assist shy of a triple-double against Saint Michael’s with 23 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and five steals.
The MBWA now takes a two-week holiday break from games to be played in its Players of the Week program and will return with its next set of selections on Jan. 13 for games played Jan. 5-11.
