Erik Pratt of Stony Brook University has been named Division I Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 12-18, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area schools in Division I.
Pratt earned his first career MBWA Player of the Week award.
A 6-5 graduate guard from Lake Worth, FL, Pratt --- who also was named the Coastal Athletic Association player of the week --- led the Seawolves (11-9, 3-4) to a homecourt weekend sweep of Hofstra (76-71) and Charleston (112-106, 2OT) by averaging 28.5 points, 8.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds.
With 18 consecutive games now in double figures, Pratt shot 52.5% from the field (21-of-40) in the two contests.
He began his week on Thursday by registering 18 points, four assists and three rebounds against Hofstra.
On Saturday against Charleston, he produced an interesting double-double with career highs of 39 points (13 field goals) and 13 assists, while collecting seven rebounds.
