NYU's Peper Picked for Final Met Basketball Women's Divs. II/III Player of the Week in 2025-26 Season

NEW YORK (Feb. 24, 2026) --- Caroline Peper of New York University has been named Divs. II/III Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.

The designation, for games played Feb. 16-22, is unique in that it encompasses players from 49 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.

Peper earned her first career MBWA Player of the Week nod earlier this season on Jan. 13.

A 6-0 senior forward-guard from South Easton, MA, Peper --- who also was named the University Athletic Association player of the week --- averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals as the undefeated Violets (24-0, 13-0), ranked No. 1 in the nation by D3hoops.com, extended their NCAA Division III record winning streak to 86 games with a pair of homecourt wins last week.

Peper nailed 44.4% (8-of-18) of her field goal shots in an 82-62 victory over Washington University of St. Louis on Friday and in a 57-52 triumph over then No. 19-ranked Chicago on Sunday.

She opened the weekend with 18 points and six assists against WashU.

On Sunday, Peper virtually willed NYU to victory.

Trailing 47-46, the Violets’ lone senior put NYU ahead by canning a 3-pointer with just 1:30 remaining. After Chicago tied the game, Peper drove and scored on a layup with just 29 ticks left. Then, after an empty Chicago possession, Peper was fouled and made both free throws with 18 seconds to go, giving NYU a two-possession lead and securing the winning streak.

She finished the game against Chicago with 22 points and six rebounds.

“Pep is like a coach on the floor, and I think she was just waiting for this moment when their defense was just dead exhausted and she took advantage of it,” said NYU head coach Meg Barber of Peper’s late-game heroics.

This was the final week of the MBWA Players of the Week selections for the 2025-26 season. Please note, the 93rd annual All-Met Haggerty Awards dinner is scheduled for Thursday evening, April 23, 2026, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, NY.
