NEW YORK (Jan. 25, 2022) ---
Jenny Walker of New York University has been named Women's Division II/III Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 17-23, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
A 6-0 junior forward from Sausalito, CA, Walker --- who also was named University Athletic Association player of the week --- posted a pair of double-doubles in leading the WBCA’s No. 4 nationally ranked and undefeated Violets (14-0) to a 2-0 week with league triumphs on the road over Washington of St. Louis (85-68) and U-Chicago (72-64). NYU’s 14 consecutive wins are its best start in a season since 2014-15.
Walker registered a career-high 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor and 10-of-12 at the free throw line in the game at WashU. She also pulled down 11 rebounds and had three blocks.
She followed with a 14-point, 12-rebound performance, along with four assists, at Chicago. Walker currently ranks second in the UAA in blocked shots (24) and double-doubles (five).
