NEW YORK (Dec. 20, 2022) ---
Lauren Park-Lane of Seton Hall, for the second time this season, has been named Division I Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Dec. 12-18, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area schools across Division I.
Park-Lane was previously honored by the MBWA this season on Dec. 6. She now has five such designations for her career.
A 5-3 senior guard from Wilmington, DE, Park-Lane --- who also was named to the Big East Conference weekly honor roll --- erupted for a game-high 35 points in the Pirates lone contest last week, a 78-72 victory at Fordham on Saturday.
She led the way when SHU needed her most, scoring 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting in the fourth quarter alone. Overall, Park-Lane was 12-for-26 from the field, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range, and 8-for-11 from the free-throw line. She also had five assists, which leaves her one shy of Ka-Deidre Simmons’ Seton Hall career record of 562 assists.
Players receiving MBWA Division I Honorable Mention for the week: Ketsia Athias, Iona; Asiah Dingle, Fordham; Jayla Everett, St. John’s; Jaida Patrick, Columbia; Brandy Thomas, Hofstra; Zhaneia Thybulle, Wagner; Alejandra Zuniga, NJIT.
