Sarah Ericson of St. Thomas Aquinas College has been named Divisions II/III Women's Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 15-21, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
The 2022-23 All-Met Division II Women's Co-Player of the Year, this is Ericson's first MBWA Player of the Week honor.
A 5-7 junior guard from Norwich, CT, Ericson --- who also was named the East Coast Conference player of the week --- averaged 27.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 4.5 steals and 2.5 blocks in leading the Spartans (9-8) to a pair of homecourt victories last week.
She recorded 30 points, eight rebounds, six assists and six steals on Friday against Daemen.
Ericson closed the week on Sunday with 24 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals and five blocks in toppling D’Youville.
Overall for the week, she shot 54.0% (20-of-37) from the field, 40.0% (6-of-15) from 3-point range and 88.8% (8-of-9) at the free throw line.
