STAC's Ericson Earns Back-to-Back Women's Divs. II/III Player of the Week Nods

NEW YORK (Jan. 30, 2024) --- Sarah Ericson of St. Thomas Aquinas College has been named Divisions II/III Women's Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
 
The designation, for games played Jan. 22-28, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.

The 2022-23 All-Met Division II Women's Co-Player of the Year, this is Ericson's second consecutive MBWA Player of the Week honor (Jan. 23).

A 5-7 junior guard from Norwich, CT, Ericson --- who also was named the East Coast Conference player of the week for a second straight week --- averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals in a 2-0 homecourt week for the Spartans (11-8).
 
Ericson shot 41.9% (13-of-31) from the field, 33.3% (5-of-15) from 3-point range and 92.3% (12-of-13) at the foul line in the two victories.
 
STAC, in second place in the ECC with a 6-2 record, defeated third place University of the District of Columbia 68-62 on Wednesday and then turned back Staten Island 74-55 on Saturday.
 
Ericson recorded a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, along with three assists and two steals, against UDC.
 
She registered 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in the win over Staten Island.
