Erin Leary of St. Thomas Aquinas College has been named Divisions II/III Women's Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Feb. 5-11, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
This marks the first MBWA weekly accolade for Leary in her collegiate career.
A 6-0 junior forward from Carle Place, NY, Leary averaged 25.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals as the Spartans (14-9) defeated Bridgeport 59-45 on the road Wednesday and beat Roberts Wesleyan 67-48 at home on Sunday.
For the week, Leary shot 43.9% (18-of-41) from the field and 90.9% (10-of-11) at the free throw line.
She recorded 24 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks at Bridgeport.
Leary had 26 points, 12 rebounds and four assists against Roberts Wesleyan.
STAC (8-3) is currently in second place in the ECC, a game behind Daemen (9-2).
This is the next-to-last announcement by the MBWA for its 2023-24 Players of the Week program, which concludes next week.
