Kaitlyn Chen of Princeton University has been named Division I Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 29-Feb. 4, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area Division I schools.
Chen previously was selected MBWA Player of the Week on Dec. 19.
A 5-9 senior guard from San Marino, CA, Chen --- who also was named the Ivy League player of the week --- averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals in spearheading a pair of homecourt victories last week for the No. 25-ranked, league-leading Tigers (17-3, 7-0).
Overall for the two games, she shot 57.1% (20-of-35) from the field as Princeton defeated Yale 79-59 on Friday and beat Brown 76-63 on Sunday.
Chen posted 27 points, five assists and four rebounds against Yale.
She registered 17 points, six rebounds and four assists against Brown.
