NEW YORK (Nov. 17, 2025) --- The Met Basketball Writers Association is back with its college Player of the Week awards for both men and women for the 2025-26 season, beginning with results for the week of Dec. 1-7, and the first nominations due by a 1 pm deadline on Monday, December 8.
As before, an MBWA media panel will select one men’s and one women’s Player of the Week winner from nominations received for Division I schools, PLUS one men’s and one women’s Player of the Week winner from nominations received for Division II and III schools combined.
Each of our 70 Met area schools is invited to submit one men’s and one women’s nomination weekly, based on games played on a Monday-through-Sunday basis. Deadline for submissions will be 1 pm (firm) each Monday. The MBWA media panel will then vote later during the day each Monday, and results will be announced on Tuesdays via an e-mail news release, on the Met Basketball Writers’ web site (www.metbasketballwriters.org) and on the MBWA social media channels.
The deadline schedule for weekly nominations comprises the Mondays of Dec. 8, 15, 22; Jan. 12, 19, 26; Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23. We will take a holiday break for the minimal amount of weekly games Dec. 22-Jan. 4, with no nominations accepted on Dec. 29 and Jan. 5.
We are excited about renewing the MBWA Player of the Week program, which has been extremely popular and well subscribed.
