NEW YORK (Jan. 10, 2023) --- Lauren Park-Lane of Seton Hall, for the third time this season, has been named Division I Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.

The designation, for games played Jan. 2-8, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area schools across Division I.

A 5-3 senior guard from Wilmington, DE, Park-Lane --- who also was named to the Big East Conference weekly honor roll --- led the Pirates (13-4) with a double-double average of 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds as SHU upended No. 24 St. John’s 72-51 at home on Wednesday and then traveled on Sunday to defeat Providence 76-60.

Park-Lane registered her first double-double of the season, a 15-point, 11-assist outburst as Seton Hall defeated previously unbeaten St. John’s. She also had five rebounds and three steals in a strong all-around effort.

Park-Lane then closed out her week with 19 points and nine assists in the road victory at Providence, helping the Pirates stage a third-quarter pullaway by outscoring the Friars 8-0 during one stretch that included a pair of made treys.

Sunday’s production moved Park-Lane past Jodi Brooks and into seventh place on Seton Hall’s career scoring list with 1,582 points. She also became the first player in Pirates history to reach the 600 career assists plateau.
