NEW YORK (Dec. 23, 2025) ---
Aaron Goldstein of the College of Staten Island has been named Divs. II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Dec. 15-21, is unique in that it encompasses players from 49 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
This is Goldstein's first career MBWA Player of the Week nod.
A 6-0 junior guard from Staten Island, NY, Goldstein --- who also was named the East Coast Conference player of the week --- averaged 28.0 points and 5.5 assists in helping the Dolphins (9-4) secure a pair of homecourt victories.
The hometown hero converted an impressive 13 of his 14 field goals for the week from 3-point range. Goldstein shot 58.3% (14-of-24) from the field, including 56.5% (13-of-23) from deep, along with nailing 15 of 16 free throws, as Staten Island defeated Wilmington (DE) 93-88 and outscored Holy Family 104-95.
Against Wilmington, Goldstein led all scorers with 23 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including five treys, while adding six assists.
He stung Holy Family with 33 points on 8-of-11 shooting, totaling eight 3-pointers plus five assists. The eight 3s represent the second-best performance from long range in a single game by a Dolphin.
The MBWA now takes a two-week holiday break from games to be played in its Players of the Week program and will return with its next set of selections on Jan. 13 for games played Jan. 5-11.
