Cam Edmonds of Georgian Court University has been named Divisions II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Feb. 3-9, is unique in that it encompasses players from 49 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
This is the first MBWA weekly award for Edmonds.
A 6-2 junior guard from Chesapeake, VA, Edmonds --- who also was named the Central Atlantic Athletic Conference player of the week --- led the Lions (5-18) to a pair of triumphs last week by averaging 34.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals.
Georgian Court turned back Wilmington 86-78 at home on Wednesday and defeated Bloomfield 91-85 on the road last Saturday as Edmonds shot 48.7% from the floor, 37.5% from behind the arc and was 25-of-33 at the free throw line.
Edmonds posted 28 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal against Wilmington.
Then, at Bloomfield, he erupted for 41 points to go with four boards, seven assists and three steals. It was his second 40+ points in a game this season and the second-most in Lions history behind only his own 48-point game in January.
