NEW YORK (Jan. 24, 2023) --- Abbey Hsu of Columbia has been named the Division I Women’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association for the second time this season.

The designation, for games played Jan. 16-22, is unique in that it encompasses players from 21 Met area schools across Division I.

Hsu was previously honored by the MBWA on Dec. 13.

A 5-11 junior guard from Parkland, FL, Hsu --- who also was named the Ivy League player of the week --- scored a game-high 26 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Lions (16-3), in their only game of the week, defeated visiting Brown 94-74 on Saturday.

Hsu continued to show why she's one of the nation’s top 3-point shotmakers, going 7-of-11 from the outside on her way to a 9-of-14 afternoon from the field.

Hsu has 68 total threes this season, which is just one trey behind NCAA Division I leader Sammy Puisis of South Florida, while her 3.58 3-pointers per game is No. 1 in the nation.

On Saturday, Hsu passed Princeton's Addie Micir (2007-11) for sixth in Ivy League history in career 3-pointers (241). One of Hsu's highlights was converting a 4-point play as part of an 8-0 third-quarter run that put the Lions up by 20. She also recorded her eighth 20-point game of the season.

Additionally, Hsu ranks No. 21 in the NCAA and No. 1 in the Ivies in 3-point percentage (43.6%). She also is No. 1 in the Ivy League in total points (338), No. 2 in scoring average (17.8 ppg) and No. 3 in field goal percentage (44.3%).

With its third straight victory, Columbia has won 13 of its last 14 overall and its 16-3 record matches last year's team for the best through 19 games in program history.

Players receiving MBWA Division I Honorable Mention for the week: Juana Camilion, Iona; Anna DeWolfe, Fordham; Sabria Hunter, Army West Point; Ny’Ceara Pryor, Sacred Heart; Arianna Vanderhoop, Monmouth.
