NEW YORK (Feb, 13, 2024) ---
James Patterson of St. Thomas Aquinas has been named Divisions II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Feb. 5-11, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
Patterson also was named MBWA Player of the Week last week and co-Player of the Week on Jan. 23.
A 6-7 sophomore guard-forward from Richmond, VA, Patterson --- who also was named the East Coast Conference player of the week --- registered a pair of double-doubles, shot 44.4% (20-of-45) from the field and averaged 28.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in sparking the league-leading Spartans (19-3, 10-1) last week to their seventh and eighth consecutive victories.
STAC, which is No. 6 nationally in Division II offense averaging 91.5 points per game, toppled Bridgeport 90-81 Wednesday on the road, then secured a 101-84 homecourt triumph over Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday.
Patterson, who is No.3 in NCAA Division II in scoring (24.3 ppg), posted 27 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and a steal in 30 minutes of action at Bridgeport.
He notched 30 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win over Roberts Wesleyan.
