NEW YORK (Feb, 6, 2024) ---
James Patterson of St. Thomas Aquinas College has been named Divisions II/III Men’s Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
The designation, for games played Jan. 29-Feb. 4, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.
Patterson was recently named MBWA co-Player of the Week (Jan. 23).
A 6-7 sophomore guard-forward from Richmond, VA, Patterson --- who also was named the East Coast Conference co-player of the week --- averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals as the league-leading Spartans (17-3, 9-1) collared a pair of victories on the road last week.
With Patterson shooting 54.0% (20-of-37) from the field and hitting 87.5% (7-of-8) at the foul line, STAC defeated Molloy 88-74 on Wednesday and then clipped Queens 89-76 on Saturday to extend its winning streak to six games.
Patterson put up 28 points, along with five rebounds and two steals, in just 18 minutes of action against Molloy.
He had 21 points, nine rebounds and two more steals in 31 minutes in the victory at Queens.
Patterson now is No. 4 in the nation in scoring with 23.8 ppg.
