Adephi's Silva, York's Dublin Share Met Men's Division II-III Player of the Week Nod

NEW YORK (Feb. 8, 2022) --- Ronnie Silva of Adelphi and Quran Dublin of York have been named Divisions II/III Co-Men’s Players of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
 
The designation, for games played Jan. 31-Feb. 6, is unique in that it encompasses players from 48 Met area schools across Divisions II and III.

It is the second time this season that Silva has been selected an MBWA Player of the Week, having previously been honored on Jan. 11.
 
A 6-1 senior guard from New York City, Dublin --- who also was named CUNY Athletic Conference player of the week --- averaged 22.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals in a 3-1 week for the Cardinals (8-9). He shot 42.8% (36-of-84) from the field, 35.1% (13-of-37) from 3-point range and 90% (9-of-10) at the free throw line.
 
After losing their first game of the week at home to Baruch 73-70, the Cards went on a three-game winning streak, defeating John Jay 84-80 at home, Medgar Evers 97-69 on the road and Lehman 76-66 back at home.
 
Dublin scored 21 game-high points on 9-of-18 shooting while adding four assists and a block in the loss to Baruch.
 
He then contributed 23 points (8-of-19 FG, 3-of-7 3FG), five rebounds and two steals to lead the victory over John Jay. And he followed with a double-double of 23 points to lead all scorers, along with 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals  in York’s first season sweep of Medgar Evers since 2014-15.
 
Dublin closed the week by pouring in a game-high 26 points (10-of-26 FG, 4-of-12 3FG, 2-of-2 FT) while adding eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in the triumph over Lehman.
 
In 17 games played, Dublin ranks second in the CUNYAC with 22.8 points per game (15th in nation) while averaging 5.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists (7th in CUNYAC) and 2.4 steals (2nd in CUNYAC). He has connected on 42.7% shots (138-of-323) from the floor, 35.8% (49-of-137) from outside the arc and a conference-best 88.6% (62-of-70) from the free throw line. His conference-leading 36.3 minutes per game ranks 14th in the nation while he stands 30th in free-throw percentage and 41st in steals per game.
 
A 5-9 senior guard from Nashua, NH, Silva --- who also was named the Northeast 10 Conference player of the week --- averaged 23.5 points in helping the Panthers (15-6) in a 2-0 week defeat visiting league foe and No. 18 nationally ranked Bentley 75-74 and then beat homestanding non-conference opponent Caldwell 69-45.
 
Silva produced 33 points, knocking down eight 3-pointers among his 12 made field goals, in the win over Bentley.
 
At Caldwell, he nailed 5-of-9 shots from the field for 14 points while adding three assists and two rebounds.
 
Currently, Silva ranks second in NCAA Division II for 3-point field goals per game (4.19), sitting behind Trevor Hudgins (5.04) of Northwest Missouri State. As a team, Adelphi ranks eighth in the nation in canning 3-point field goals per contest (11.3), not far behind NE10’s Franklin Pierce, which is fourth (11.7).
